The challenge

The Tongan Health Society is a primary healthcare provider that has rapidly grown over the past few years. Their mission to provide the best holistic healthcare services to the communities they serve, particularly to people of Tongan descent, has been driving this growth. With three clinics already serving the community, they contacted Zoosh Studio to help complete their fourth clinic in Ōtāhuhu.

When the Tongan Health Society came to us about their new clinic in Ōtāhuhu, they’d had a challenging start to their project and were working to a tight timeline. The existing layout wasn’t meeting their requirements and there was a lack of some essential services critical to a medical clinic’s operation, such as suitable HVAC systems and nurse call equipment.

Luckily, our experienced team was able to step up to the plate and modify the existing plans to accommodate the technical requirements and get the clinic up and running even sooner than initially planned.

The approach

We started by reviewing the existing designs and identifying the gaps and inaccuracies. Our designers were able to adjust the layout to better suit the client’s requirements and develop a detailed schedule of works for the project. We streamlined the timeline and threw additional resource at it to ensure they could open the clinic as soon as possible, minimising the overall project costs.

Our experienced team was also able to adjust the plans and offer alternative solutions to better suit the client’s needs and budget, while accommodating the necessary additions that were left out of the original plans.

The result

The clinic opened on time with the Chief of Tonga and then Prime Minister, Chris Hipkins, in attendance. The new clinic is fit-for-purpose with all the necessary medical equipment and systems installed, including a compliant HVAC system and a nurse call system.
