Christchurch

Arlo Partners

After years of shared accommodation in central Christchurch, the Arlo Partners collective (Spencer Barr, Milson Foundry, Zoosh Studio and allied brands) needed a workplace that expressed both their collaborative spirit and individual expertise. The brief called for a high-end, professional environment that could handle diverse operations, including technical lab functions for Milson Foundry, flexible desk booking, premium client meeting spaces, and everyday team workflows. The space also had to honour the citys industrial heritage while establishing a distinct identity for the Arlo family of brands.

We used Christchurchs industrial character as the foundation, then layered in sophistication and flexibility. Polished concrete floors and black steel detailing set the backbone. Mesh partitions and Kaynemaile curtains introduced dynamic zoning that can open up or dial down as needed. Acoustic performance was a priority across meeting, focus and lab areas, so we specified Autexs Yakisugi Black for sound control and visual cohesion. A palette of dark greens, warm natural tones and strategic bold finishes keeps the environment grounded, calm and ready to adapt to each teams workflow.
